To obtain an automated laser profile measurement tool, which is, battery powered, controlled remotely and self-propelled.
Capable of recording profile of all rails at intervals of, no greater than, 2mm.
Must be capable of carrying out Points and Crossing inspections autonomously.
The proposed measuring device should have capabilities in a number of different areas and be able to combine numerous measurement points within their inspection, such as

- Five-Point Derailment and have the ability factor in chair gaps/hogging (equivalent to NR/L2/TRK/053 and NR/L2/TRK/1054 Network Rail Standard)

- Free Wheel Clearances
- Measure Switch Residual Opening
- Detect Broke or loss of section in switches and crossings including wing rails
- Detect Gaping Switches
- Switch and Rail Wear
- Inspection of Running Edge o 3D Scanning of the Switches and Crossing Nose
- Fixed Nose Protection
- Nose Free Wheel Passage/Clearance
- Monitor of Sidewear on Rail and to record Track Geometry
- Detect and Measure Lipping/Plastic Flow.
