L'IRM dispose d'une série chronologique continue de mesures par sondes d'ozone depuis 1969, indispensable à la recherche climatique et à la surveillance de la couche d'ozone dans le cadre du Protocole de Montréal de l'ONU. De plus, ces sondages fournissent des paramètres essentiels (tels que la température effective pour l'absorption de l'ozone) requis pour le calcul et la prévision de l'indice UV destinés à la population. L'IRM fait également office de Quality Assurance/Science Activity Centre (QA/SAC) officiel pour les sondes d'ozone au sein de l'Organisation météorologique mondiale (OMM).

Le futur marché pour la fourniture des équipements de mesure (environ 150 sondages par an) est divisé en deux lots distincts :

Lot 1
Sondes d'ozone : L'achat de sondes d'ozone spécifiques.
Lot 2
Radiosondes et interfaces : L'achat des radiosondes associées et des interfaces nécessaires au transfert de données.
