Description
The purchase aims to provide administrative, scientific and technical support to the Commission and Member States for implementation and development of EU policy associated with the prevention and control of major-accident hazard (Seveso III Directive). In particular the project will aim to provide assistance to the Commission in following areas:
- to promote exchanges and sharing of information, good practices and lessons learnt on implementation of the Seveso-III Directive, with and between Member States.
- to support the work of the Technical Working Groups on Inspections (TWG2) promoting common approaches to Seveso-III Directive implementation across Member States and consistent inspection and risk management across 11 000 highly diverse industrial sites covered by the Seveso-III Directive.
- to provide technical assistance for the drafting of technical documentations and guidances supporting harmonised implementation of some provisions of the Seveso-III Directive.
- to provide expertise, on an ad hoc basis, on some technical issues related to the implementation of the Seveso-III Directive.
- to provide scientific support to the European Commission for risks and accidents analysis and for dissemination of lessons learnt.
This purchase is necessary to address the implementation issues identified in the MS national reports on implementation of the Seveso III Directive and to take over tasks currently performed by the Major Accidents Hazard Bureau whose activities should be discontnued by the end of the year.
