Ter hoogte van werfzones doen zich soms onveilige situaties voor ten gevolge van automobilisten die zich niet aan de opgelegde snelheidsbeperkingen houden. Deze situaties vormen niet alleen een risico voor de andere weggebruikers, maar ook voor de wegenarbeiders die op de werf actief zijn. Het inzetten van onbemande snelheidscamera’s die, wanneer eenmaal geïnstalleerd, als een vast systeem werken, kan ertoe bijdragen dat automobilisten hun rijgedrag aanpassen waardoor de veiligheid van zowel de weggebruikers maar ook van de wegenarbeiders verhoogt.
