Het kruispunt van de Zuiderring met de Swinnenwijerweg is een belangrijk kruispunt ter ontsluiting van het gedeelte van het industriegebied Genk-Zuid gelegen tussen de Zuiderring, het Albertkanaal en het kanaaldok ter hoogte van Haven Genk. Het huidige kruispunt is niet compact uitgevoerd. Het is de bedoeling om gelijktijdig met de herinrichting van het kruispunt te voorzien in een ongelijkgrondse kruising van het BFF-fietspad met de Zuiderring.
