De aanleiding van deze aanbesteding is het besluit van Universiteit Leiden om de IAM-omgeving te vernieuwen. Een belangrijk onderdeel van de nieuwe IAM-omgeving wordt midPoint, een softwareproduct gericht op Identity Governance and Administration. Universiteit Leiden zoekt een dienstverlener voor de hosting, het technisch beheer, en applicatie-ontwikkeling en -beheer op de implementatie van midPoint en aanpalende componenten voor Universiteit Leiden.
De Universiteit Leiden implementeert een vernieuwd Identity & Access Management (IAM)-landschap ter ondersteuning van het beheer van digitale identiteiten, authenticatie, autorisaties en lifecycle management van gebruikers. Het IAM-landschap vormt een bedrijfskritische voorziening voor medewerkers, studenten, gasten, applicaties en beheerders. De opdrachtgever kiest voor een sourcingmodel waarbij het technisch beheer, de hosting en de technische doorontwikkeling van het IAM-platform worden ondergebracht bij een externe dienstverlener.
De universiteit voert zelf de regie, bepaalt de governance en de architectuurkaders, en voert zelf functioneel beheer uit.
