LC‑MS-analyses binnen het laboratorium klinische biologie gebeuren momenteel hoofdzakelijk via LDT’s, die niet langer voldoen aan de IVDR-verordening (EU 2017/746). Een overgang naar CE‑gemarkeerde commerciële reagentia is daarom noodzakelijk. Deze transitie valt samen met de vernieuwing van de LC‑MS-toestellen en bijhorende validatie, waardoor een aanbesteding werd opgestart.

Er wordt gekozen voor een looptijd van 5 jaar om de significante switchkosten (validatie, implementatie, opleiding en documentatie) te spreiden en operationele stabiliteit te garanderen. De meerkost is nodig voor regelgeving en levert kwaliteitswinst op (traceerbaarheid, reproduceerbaarheid, robuustheid en gevalideerde documentatie).
