VMM wenst over te gaan tot het plaatsen van meerdere opdrachten voor opmaak, integratie en onderhoud van een gebiedsdekkend dichtheidsafhankelijk grondwaterstromingsmodel van het kustgebied in Vlaanderen via een raamovereenkomst. In de eerste opdracht van het raamcontract moet een dichtheidsafhankelijk grondwaterstromingsmodel ontwikkeld worden voor het volledige Vlaamse kustgebied. De VMM wenst met dit model de invloed van klimaatsverandering, zeespiegelstijging en urbanisatie in de duingebieden op het grondwater te onderzoeken als onderdeel van het Europese Interreg Project Blue Transition.

Zowel de grondwaterstanden als de veranderingen in de zoet en zout grondwaterverdeling moeten onderzocht worden. Vermits effecten kunnen doorwerken tot in het poldergebied omvat het model zowel de duinen als de (kust)polders. Na de ontwikkeling van dit basismodel worden volgende opdrachten voorzien: scenario's, opmaak van code goede praktijk, integratie in de grondwatersimulator, onderhoud en bijkomende modelontwikkelingen
