De basisopdracht loopt 4 jaar, van 2026-2030. De opdracht kan 2 keer stilzwijgend verlengd worden met 1 jaar. Deze opdracht wordt afgesloten onder de vorm van een raamovereenkomst met één ondernemer in toepassing van artikels 2, 35° en 43 van de Wet inzake overheidsopdrachten van 17 juni 2016.
Tijdens deze basisopdracht is geen opzegging van de polis mogelijk, ook niet na schadegeval, behoudens de toepassingsgevallen zoals voorzien in de wetgeving overheidsopdrachten. Enkel rechtstreekse offertes van verzekeraars die over de nodige erkenningen beschikken om in België dergelijke verzekeringen aan te bieden, zonder tussenkomsten van makelaars of consulenten, zullen weerhouden worden. Bijgevolg zullen offertes via tussenkomst van verzekeringstussenpersonen of consultants niet weerhouden worden.
