Description
Het Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos (ANB) beheert voor de Vlaamse Overheid significante oppervlaktes graslanden, heideterreinen, bossen en parken. Op een deel van deze graslanden wordt jaarlijks een maaibeheer toegepast. Op heideterreinen wordt de vegetatie verschraald of verjongd, waarbij het bovengrondse deel van de vegetatie wordt afgehaald.
Soms wordt de strooisellaag weggehaald onder de vorm van plaggen. In bossen worden open ruimtes en paden gemaaid en vrijgezet van beplanting. Parken krijgen een tuinbouwkundig onderhoud.
Deze beheerwerken op graslanden zorgen voor vrijkomend natuurmaaisel; de andere beheerwerken, al dan niet van gemengde aard, genereren gemengd groenafval; dat dient te worden afgevoerd en verwerkt. Hiervoor zoekt het ANB naar verwerkingsbedrijven om dit maaisel en dit groenafval op te halen en te verwerken.
