Het voorwerp van de opdracht is de aanleg van dijken en waterkerende constructies op Sigmapeil, ter hoogte van de voormalige petroleumcluster (Petroleum-Zuid, Antwerpen RO) langsheen de Beneden-Zeeschelde. Daarnaast wordt in het project de verlenging van de bestaande petroleumpier (beschermd monument) voorzien, alsook een belangrijk aandeel afbraakwerken (boven- en ondergronds leidingwerk, bestaande (beton)constructies,…) en een nieuwe mobiele waterkeringspoort Ten slotte worden aanpassingen doorgevoerd aan de betonplatformen die grenzen aan en horen bij de petroleumpier Het geheel van de werken kadert in de uitvoering van het geactualiseerde Sigmaplan.
