Deze opdracht kadert in het beheer van grachten en waterlopen (assetbeheer). Onder meer opdat een goede afstroming verzekerd blijft of omgekeerd het water wordt vastgehouden om beter te infiltreren en minder snel te worden afgevoerd. Onze waterlopen vormen een belangrijke habitat (flora) en migratiecorridor (fauna) die doorgaans belangrijke functies in zich dragen verwant aan de verschillende gebieden waarin ze liggen (wonen, natuur, landbouw, industrie).
Om die functies te kunnen (of blijvend te) vervullen moeten ze maximaal open zijn en ecologisch worden ingericht. Vandaag worden ze daarom tot de zogenaamde groen-blauwe linten gerekend. Deze opdracht omvat onder meer voor grachten, waterlopen, bufferbekkens,…:
- Het ruimen van slib
- Onderhoud van oevers en daarop aanwezig groen
- Vernieuwen van overwelvingen (onder wegenis: ‘duikers’)
- Aanleg van waterlopen en bekkens
- Aanleg van perceelstoegangen (veelal voor rekening van de aanvrager – regeling werken op vraag van derden)
- Het openmaken van waterlopen door het verwijderen van buizen en kokers uit die waterlopen
- Het inrichten van waterlopen (i.f.v. buffering en infiltratie, versterken van de ecologie)
- Het plaatsen van oeverversterking
