Description
The EPBD requires MS to apply a methodology for calculating the energy performance of buildings. The Commission gave a mandate (M/480) to CEN to elaborate and adopt a set of standards for a common methodology calculating the integrated energy performance of buildings. The EPBD also requires MS to report their national calculation methodology according to a number of identified standards (initially 5 standards in 2018 and 3 additional ones in the 2024 recast).
More specifically the contract will:
- support MS in the application of the CEN standards I their calculation methodology
- support MS in the reporting of the calculation methodology according to the standards
- analyse the reports from MS in order to evaluate the differences in the calculation methodology across MS
- provide key recommendations to the Commission on policy to bring in more consistency to the calculation methodologies across the EU
- support the general use of CEN standards in the construction industry
