Binnen het havengebied ontstaat op verschillende manieren afval. Het afval waarvan sprake in het kader van deze opdracht betreft:

bedrijfsafval: PMD, PD, GFT, … ten gevolge van de activiteiten in de kantoren en onderhoudswerkplaatsen van North Sea Port
bedrijfsafval: afval ingezameld binnen het havengebied door North Sea Port (zwerfvuil – drijfvuil – sluikstorten – gevaarlijk afval – veegafval …) en indien mogelijk centraal verzameld aan de onderhoudswerkplaatsen of containers op vaste locaties
Afval verzameld in containers, verspreid over het havengebied (truckparkings en afval binnenvaart). Naast de ophaling wordt van de inschrijver een proactieve rol verwacht om de afvalophaling en -verwerking duurzamer en milieuvriendelijker te maken.
