Hankinnan kohteena on kuiturakentamisen urakat sekä kaapeliverkon ylläpito (esim. korjaus- ja muutostyöt) Puolustusvoimille. Kuiturakentamista ja ylläpitoa suoritetaan pääsääntöisesti Puolustusvoimien hallinnoimilla alueilla, kuten varuskunta- ja harjoitusalueilla. Ylläpitotyöt sisältävät myös kuparikaapeleiden asennustyötä.
Luettelo Puolustusvoimien toimipisteiden sijaintipaikkakunnista on saatavilla internetissä osoitteessa www.puolustusvoimat.fi. Kuiturakentaminen voi sisältää vähäisessä määrin myös vesistökaapelin asennusta. Puolustusvoimat voi sopimuksen perusteella halutessaan tilata myös ainoastaan kaapelireittien suunnittelupalvelua.
Tarjouskilpailun perusteella solmitaan puitesopimus yhden toimittajan kanssa. Suunniteltu sopimuskausi on 1.1.2027 - 31.12.2030.
