Inleiding: We bouwen een grote campus waar levenslang leren van peuters tot volwassenen alle instellingen meer mogelijkheden biedt op het vlak van beschikbaarheid van ruimtes en materialen, herkenbaarheid en verankering. Het secundair onderwijs GO! middenschool en GO! atheneum De Makz en GO! basisschool De MiniMakz verhuizen van het Verweeplein in Knokke naar de campus site Heist. De GO! basisschool De Zeeparel verhuist van de Kursaalstraat in Heist eveneens naar de campus aan de Heistlaan in Heist.

Ook de voorziening die momenteel op het Verweeplein en aan de Albertlaan is gevestigd, verhuist naar de Heistlaan. Deze voorziening is deels een onderwijs en deels een Welzijn voorziening. De site: De campus site is gelegen langs de Heistlaan, een gewestweg die vanaf de snelweg aansluit op de kustbaan.

De site is vlot bereikbaar met auto en met openbaar vervoer door de nabijheid van het trein-bus station Heist en het tram-bus station Heist Dijk. De site situeert zich tussen verschillende wijken zoals aan de noordzijde (Heist centrum) en aan de zuidzijde (Oostwinkel /Heulebrug). In de directe nabijheid van de campus bevinden zich verschillende significante groene zones en multifunctionele sites.

De opdracht: Het project omvat het scholenbouwproject als vast deel (Deelopdracht 1) en 2 voorwaardelijke delen nl. de voorzieningen voor Onderwijs en Welzijn (Deelopdracht 2) en voorziening Welzijn (Deelopdracht 3). De voorwaardelijke deelopdrachten werden voorzien naar aanleiding van het actuele nog lopende goedkeuringstraject van een algemeen zorgstrategisch plan binnen de scholengroep.
